The violin is a very popular instrument for learners of all ages. Throughout history the violin has been chosen by virtuoso soloists to create dazzling performances that have wowed audiences the world over. The violin can be see in all musical styles, including classical, pop, folk and jazz. It is also suited to very young learners age 4+ as small instruments are available.

Cello
The cello is the larger sibling of the violin. This instrument can also be learnt by all ages and is an important member of the orchestra, taking on powerful bass lines and elegant melodies. Not as famous as it's little sister, it can also be seen with dazzling solos and in a wide range of styles. Small instruments are available for learners 8+.
The double bass is arguably the most important instrument in the orchestra and is brilliant fun to play. It's able to produce bold bass lines that underpin the orchestra or walking bass lines that are the foundation of jazz, blues and so much more. The bass is a great instrument for access to varied opportunities, bass players are always in demand! Smaller instruments are available for younger learners from 10+.

The ukulele is a really fun way to begin learning music. It is extremely versatile and can be played in may different ways. It can be played in lots of groups and bands and styles of music. Many children learn the ukulele at school and lessons at IJN Music are a great way to follow on this as Isabel has taught many school groups ukulele and understands well the challenges. Suitable from 4+.
As an adult the ukulele can be a really fun way to return to or begin music lessons, learning music from your favourite bands and performers.

I really enjoy my weekly cello lessons with Isabel. As an adult student, I find her to be a great teacher who adapts the lessons around me, and is very patient!
